Intro to Thriller:



What is a thriller - A thriller is a genre that uses suspense, tension and excitement as the main elements. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise. They tend to have a lot of literal devices such as cliffhangers and plot twist with fast action, gritty scene.A thriller is villain-driven plot, whereby he or she presents obstacles that the hero must overcome.

For the past few weeks my class has been focusing on this genre. We've split into groups to create a short opening to a film.

To help us with the creation of the film we will be looking at :

- Watching youtube videos

- Watching films that consist of thriller elements

- Uploading Youtube videos to my blog

- Uploading previous media thrillers onto the blog

We are going to be looking at films such as:

- Fear

- Obessessed

- Panic Room

- Number 23

- Sweeney Todd the deomon barber of Fleet Street

- Misery

- One hour photo

We will also be looking at tv dramas to refresh our memory of camera angles:

- Skins

- Desperate Housewives

- Merlin
